Our Director: Kimberly Branch

Kim Branch

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL,  Kimberly Branch earned degrees in Music Education and Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University. She studied under the direction of Prof. Ron Carter, Prof. Art Davis, Fareed Haque, Dr. Ronnie Wooten, Prof. Reginald Thomas, Dr. Roosevelt Griffin, and many more. Ms. Branch has also toured with the Northern Illinois Jazz Ensemble with many world reknown guest artist such as Wycliffe Gordon, Sean Jones, and Randy Brecker to name a few.

Ms. Branch has worked with numerous elementary, middle, and high schools around Illinois, Florida, and Wisconsin as well as numerous jazz camps such as the Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Camp in Fort Lauderdale, FL and the Northern Illinois Jazz camp in DeKalb, IL. Her number one goal is to see all of her students succeed inside and outside of the music world.

Dec. 8th- EMS Concert Band Winter Concert @7pm

Call Times

  • All grades must be in the auditorium with their instruments ready to warm up at 6:30pm sharp!
  • 6th Grade:  Arrive at 6:20pm, store your instrument case in the band room, and proceed to the auditorium stage with your instrument and music ready to play at 630pm.
  • 7th Grade:Arrive at 6:10pm and go to the band room to store your instrument case, receive your cummerbund and ties/rosette, then proceed to the auditorium with your instrument and music and sit in the section of seats assigned to 7th grade. Be ready for the start of warm ups at 6:30 sharp.
  • 8th Grade: Arrive at 6:10pm and go to the computer lab behind the auditorium to store your instrument case. Then proceed to the band room to receive your cummerbund and tie/rosette, then proceed to the auditorium with your instrument and music and sit in the section of seats assigned to 7th grade. Be ready for the start of warm ups at 6:30 sharp.

What to Wear

  • 6th Graders:  Wear black shoes, black socks, black pants, and white button down dress shirt. 
  • 7th and 8th Graders:  Wear black shoes, black socks, black pants, tuxedo shirts.  We will have volunteers in the band room to help you put on your cummerbunds and ties/rosettes.

Missing Tuxedo Shirt Buttons?

  • We have acquired gold studs, and will be providing assistance to  students to affix these studs when they arrive for their cummerbunds and ties on Thursday evening.  To ensure there is plenty of time for students to get the gold studs and look their best, we are asking families to have their students arrive with their buttonless tux shirts EARLIER than the appointed call time.  We will have parents there beginning at 6pm so please come early!
